    Thatched houses common some years ago - rare now - art of thatched almost forgotten - thatch was straw or flax. A bed in Kitchen placed against side wall - called a settle bed. - a bed by night, closed up used as a seat by day. Front of chimney made of stones and mortar. Most houses without chimneys were to be seen in this locality.
