- In the rebellion of 1798 there was a battle fought in a field known as Conlan’s sand-pit. There are a great many mounds there the shape of graves on the ground, and these are supposed to be the graves of the men who were killed there. A row of trees was put there at the time the men were buried to mark the spot.
