Nurney Churches
in Kildangan built in 1782. Before 1782 they attended at a Mass Rock at the back of Mr. O'Fearrall's residence. (Kildangan) - Nurney Castle
There are only very slight remains of Nurney Castle. The ruined dwelling now standing there was built about 150 years ago. The Castle belonged to the Fitzgeralds an Leinster Family. In 1798 a widow Mrs. Fitzgerald lived there and a frequent visitor was Reynolds the informer.
He married a daughter of this Mrs Fitzgerald and was strongly suspected of poisoning his mother in law. The Castle and lands were held by the Fitzgeralds from the Wyndham Family whose ancestors got the townland of Nurney(continues on next page)- Collector
