When driving the cows in or out of a field we say: "Bail-up". The cowhouse is white-washed and has a cement floor. The cowhouse is called a byre. The cows are tied by the neck with a chain. the local names for tyings are called bails or stalls.
Every year on Palm Sunday we hang up a branch of palm in the cowhouse. When milking cows the milker should bless himself before milking and bless the cow after milking. A person should say "God bless the work" when entering a cowhouse where there is milking going on.(continues on next page)- Collector
