- My Father's Forge.
My father's forge is situated in the townland of Reary, in the parish of Rosanalis on the side of the road which leads from Drummond Cross to Clarahill.
It is a big forge. There area great many implements in the forge namely, an anvil, abellows, a vice and a large hob. There are sledge hammers, knives and rasps and a box in it in which he puts the implements. There is a large fire in it every day when he is working.
My Grandfather and all my uncles were smiths before my father was a smith. Every relative of my Grandfather was a smith . My Grandfather used to make ploughs and harrows. My father does not make them now.
My father shoes horses, ponies and asses in the forge. My father when he is making a shoe he puts a piece of iron in the fire. Then he blows the bellows. When the iron is red, he takes(continues on next page)- Collector
