  1. The people of Clonaslee attend, usually, Portarlington fair for horses only, as it is twenty miles away and some men go to Portumna to sell, but mostly to buy horses.
They attend Montmellick and Tullamore for cattle, pigs and sheep.
A fowl market is held each Saturday in Clonaslee.
The women used to start before the men going to the fair with cattle and turn back, and wish them good luck. If people going to a fair to buy or sell, meet red-haired woman, they should turn back to escape meeting her.
