- About two miles to the North of Rathdowney in the village of Donaghmore there is a well called St Patrick's well.Long ago a woman was boiling potatoes and she got water out of the well. She had the potatoes down for about an hour and when she looked into the pot she saw that the water was as cold as when she put it in.When her husband saw what happened he threw the potatoes into a basin and to his surprise he saw a little trout swimming about. Then he put the trout back into the well. The well is there still. This story was told to me(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
