    About one hundred years ago, there was an old man living in Ballaghmore.

    and went home. Carroll was so drunk that he forgot the password and could not get out. When the man who owned the stone came down in the morning and saw Carroll, he sent for the police and got him arrested. The punishment for stealing that time was death. So they proposed to hang hang him out of the backband of a horse car. Carroll was made to draw out the car into a big field. When he was drawing it across the field he thought of the password and shouted out "hi for Ballaghmore" the minute he said it, the car and himself rose up in the air, and never stopped until they reached the rath. In the morning when he awoke he had a fine horse's car.
