- There is a tradition of very old standing that the Castle of Granstown would one day fall. An old woman in the locality now dead, often told that it was was eighty years past when she heard that this castle would fall, and that when that would happen there would be a great change in the Fitzpatrick family. This family were owners of the estate on which the castle stood. A portion of this castle did fall and the great change came in the fortunes of the Fitzpatrick family, as they then lost much of their land possessions.
