"A Hidden Treasure"
About one hundred years ago, a man from Middlemount dreamed there was gold hidden in a rath nearly. He also thought, that if he and some others would attempt to look for it, at twelve o'clock in the night, they would be successful, but blood must be shed at the finding of it.
After dreaming the same dream three nights in succession, a party of men and he set out dig for the gold, and hoping it might save someone from being killed, they killed a cock, which they took with them.
After some hours digging, they found the gold but suddenly they heard a hurricane coming westward. Each man, remembering the warning in the vision, and fearing that it was his blood should be shed, fled for his life each taking a little of the gold he found. The hole which the men dug on that occasion is still to be seen in the mound at Middlemount.
