  1. About twenty years ago a big horsefair was a yearly event in this village.
    Ballinakill cattle-fair is considered the first annual local fair.
    Luck-money is given when animals are sold. The amount given depends on the price of the animal. Usually 5/= on a horse.
    Animals are marked when sold by clipping the hair at the side, or by marking with tar.
