    quench their thirst! This broke Egan out of it, and Mr. Nolan nick-named "Grab-all"-bought it but he kept only a large public house there.
    N.B. The whiskey made in this Distillery was known as the "White Horse". The local river, a tributary of the Nore, still bears that name. Seen from the vicinity of Mountrath, it is said to look like a white horse, as it flows down the slopes of the Slieve Bloom in the distance. When the Distillery failed here, some of the skilled workers betook themselves to Scotland and there started, under the same name, the present famous "White horse" Distillery.
