- In Maryborough in 1704 there is a reference to Mass houses as late as 1694. The site of this Mass-house is supposed to be a burial-ground enclosing the square tower of the former Protestant church. On the right hand side of the road as one goes from Borris towards Mountmellick the ruins of a thatched chapel is pointed out in a field belonging to Mr. Jessop. About(continues on next page)
