The Heath plain. The Heath is a very large plain, it is situated about half a mile from Morette school and about five miles from Portlaoghaise. It contains about 300 acres of land. Long ago races used to be held there and the race course is there still, and is used at present as a training course for Mr Blake's racehorses. This race course is about three miles length.
There are ruins of a Stand House still to be seen on the plain of Heath where the people used to watch the races which took place here up to about fifty years ago. the last race was held at that time.
