    cleeve and a sheet was wrapped around them to keep them warm until the bacon and cabbage was cooked. Then when all was ready they had a great feast. The piper was put in the loft to play and was given a cup of whiskey with few raw eggs in it.
    The day of the wedding many customs and superstitions were observed. They always took care to have three garments in a box in a bedroom, one of them new, one of old and one borrowed. They never allowed a sister of the bridegroom to go to the church.
    Another custom observed as the bride and bridegroom were going out to the marriages the bride's father to be on the loft and to throw three potatoes after them for good luck. The mother usually a big feather bed and a large number of home-spun sheets and pillow covers as a present to the bride.
