  1. 1. It is right to take a 'dreas' if you enter a house while the churning is in progress.
    2. Some people would insist that a person who enters must wait until the milk is broken.
    3. I have seen a woman churning while a kindled coal was under the churn. It is said that nobody is able to bring the butter if this precaution is taken.
    4. Salt is thrown on the lid of a churn before starting. It is thrown in the form of a cross.
    5. It is not right to lend the churn-dash. Patrick O'Brien, Leitrim, Mullac na Sidhe told me that Mrs. O'Brien lent the dash and it was impossible to get butter afterwards. He, however, recovered it in the following manner.
