Churning
When a person is churning if a man comes in to light hippie if he goes out without taking the churn-dash the person stops churning because he will have no luck and the butter will not gather.
If a man comes in for a red coal to light a fire outside he has to (the) turn the churn-dash. If he does not it is said he takes he butter with him.
