    On Ash Wednesday the people go to Mass and get the blessed ashes. On Easter Sunday people eat plenty of eggs. On Whit Sunday people shun the water as it is very dangerous.
    On May day people make a May pole and dress it with May-flowers and children carry it around. People do not give away milk on that day.
    St John's night is called the bone-fire night and people gather turf and sticks and light a great big fire and have music and dancing. They sometimes milk the cows and buy bread and divide it. When going home they bring a coal and throw into their crop.
    St Martin's day a fowl is killed and blood is spilt around the four corners of the house and prayers are said to God and St Martin. It is said that never to turn
