  1. There are three forges in the parish. The names of the men who own them are Mr Charles Hegarty and Mr John Crowley and Mr Tim Hayes. Mr Hegarty's father and grandfather were smiths. Mr Crowley's father was a smith. But his grandfather was a farmer and Mr Hayes' father and grandfather were smiths. Mr Hegarty's forge is situated in the townland of Ballyourane, on the road between Skibbereen and Bantry and near the Ballyourane river. Mr Crowley's forge is in the townland of Bauravilla near the Ilen river on
