- When I was a little girl Baby Toilet Powder or Fullers' Earth was unknown on this Island, but I saw my own mother and the other old women using the following as baby-powder.They used to strike the old moth-eaten beams and rafters of the outhouses and the dry powder thus obtained used to be shaken on the babies after being washed, in the same manner as Baby Toilet Powder is used today. The old women had a very high opinion of the powder thus obtained, and held that it had wonderful healing properties.I got this from:Mrs Kate Burke (65years)
