- There was an old school in Con Harrington's house in Kilnagospagh. The teachers taught the subects in Irish and Irish was the home language of his pupils. Reading, writing and arithmetic were taught from slates. The old Irish folk songs and ballads were sung round the fireside. The Abbey School is known as the Poor School locally
