The Castle known as "Baile 'n Bháird". This Castle was built by Randal Óg O Hurley of Ballinacorriga Castle for two of his sons William Hurley and James Hurley. Randall Óg was a very powerful and influential Chief of this district for a long time. His father was known as Randal O Hurley. Randal Óg built Ballinacorriga Castle in 1558. Baile 'n Bháird was built perhaps twenty or thirty years later, therefore I suggest, that we may conclude that it is a late nineteenth century Castle.
Randal Óg of Ballinacorriga was married to Catherine Cullinane (or Coileáin) a member of a family of physicians in Timoleague who were always employed as doctors to the House of McCarthy. Catherine, we are told, became the mother of seven sons one time and it(continues on next page)
