  1. Several Holy wells exist in this district. One well near Rosscarbery is known as the Teampuillin.
    On 15th August several people visit it and walk round it a certain number of times.
    People who suffer leave behind them rags which they used to cover their sores.
    It is very unlucky to dig a fort. A story is told of a Kilbrittain man who did so and was killed the day after. A man who helped him was fatally injured a year from that day. It is not right to close in a well.
