  1. Long, long ago, there lived at Carhugarriff an old man who had death-bed repentance. He would not go to confession all his life and he said he would go to confession when he would be dying. When he was dying he sent for the priest. He came and went up three steps of the stairs but could go no further. He tried his best for half an hour, but it was no use. Some time afterwards the old man died and his soul was seen going out through the window in a burst of flame.
