    Great Swimmers
Owe Duffily St Johns Wood Townland of Kinnegan Roscommon lived in this parish forty five years ago. When he wanted to visit his friends in Longford which is right across the lake from the wood, used tie his clothes round his shoulders and head and swim there and back three miles each way.
    Great Mowers
Michael Kelly whom we have mentioned before as a walker was also a great mower in his day. Mowed six Irish acres of oats with a scythe in five days and a half.
