“In 1920, Knockcrogheny was burned by the Black and Tans.”
In 1920 Knockcroghery was burned by the Black and Tans. There was a clay pipe factory there which was burned and was never rebuilt.
Local Drowning.
In 1884 five men were drowned in Lough Ree. Their names were Moran. They were returning from a marriage in Roscommon to The Quaker Island. It was about midnight, and the boat capsized. Ever since lights pass where they were drowned.- Informant
