- Clothes made Locally
There is one tailor in this district. He works in his home. Formerly tailors went from house to house but they do not do so now.
The tailor does not stock cloth but he keeps a book of patterns and will send for any cloth you ask for. The types of cloth used are mostly imported or made in the woollen-mills throughout the country. Cloth is not spun or woven locally.
Some of the sayings connected with tailors are, "as tough as a tailor's goose," "your goose is cooked" and "as deep as a tailor's thimble." The tailor's implements are. his machine, needle, scissors, thimble, his ironing-board and his goose.
Shirts are made at home but only working shirts.(continues on next page)
