- There lived in Glenbeg a young girl. One night she stayed up minding a sick cow. She got turf to put on the fire. When she was putting it on the fire one of the sods was thrown at her by a fairy and it struck her on the leg and it got very sore.
The next morning one of her neighbours was on the mountain about six o clock to see his cattle. He met a woman and he said to her "Is not it early you are out" and she answered. "I was in Glenbeg last night. I did not like to be there at all because there is a poor girl there and I am afraid she will have a sore leg as she got a stroke from a fairy last night.
I would not like to do anything to her father but I had to do it. That woman was Maire Ní Murcadha who lived in Eyeries and was supposed to be in the fairies.- Collector
