And twenty-four feet every sweep he could throw.
At the throwing of the weight there was a Dublin chap foremost.
But our Muskerry sports-man excited him still.
And all round the field went the wild ringing chorus.
Long life and a glory to Bold Thady Quill.
At the conquering gold between Cork and Tipperary.
That was played in the park neat the banks of the Lee.
Our Gaelic young boys were afraid of being beaten.
So they send for Bold Thady to Ballinagree.
He hurled the ball right and left through their faces.
He showed the Tipperary boys training and drill.
If they touched on his lines he swore he would brain them.
So they put on the paper the praise of Thady Quill.
