Long ago when doctors were unknown to people, they had to get their diseases cured by a quack or by going to holy wells. One remedy for curing sore eyes is, by getting nine gooseberry thorns, and point them nine times for nine mornings at it, and you would be cured.
Ringworm can be cured by putting a sixpenny -bit in a piece of rag, and rub it on the ring-worm and throw it on the road
It is said there is a rock in Clonmacnoise, and there is water in it always and if you wash a wart in it, it will be cured.
It is said that chin-cough can be cured by crawling under a four-footed animal, and a bleeding nose stopped by crawling under a window.
There is a rock in Kilbegly for curing a sore back, and if you put your back against it, and say certain prayers, you would be cured.
