When the cat sits with his back to the fire or the dog is seen eating grass rain is expected, as also when the cows lie lazily in the fields for an unusually long time. When the wind whistles through the trees and in the Key-hole of the door we expect rain and gale. When the wind blows from the north-east especially in autumn we expect a good deal of fine weather. Old people call this wind the Gougane breeze and are happy to see the winds veering round to that point when the corn is ripening.(continues on next page)
