- Long ago there lived a little crippled man all alone in the wood. He had two tame little robins. These robins one time would not come near him. Every day when they would come he used give them bread but they used fly away.
One day the kept a piece of bread in his hand and it wasn't long until the two birds came and ate it; he used do that every day, and the birds used come every day.
When he died one robin stood at his head and the other at his feet and sang a lovely song, and the people who told this story said the man was buried in God's bosom.
This story is not true but it was told by old people to a flock of boys who had a great desire to kill birds.- Collector
