- The town of Caheravirane is situated three miles west of the little village of Schull. The townland is called after a stone forth which was built by the OBriens or Barnetts.
There are seven families in the townland. There are two Attridge families, one Mahony family, one Sullivan family, one Barnett family, one Barry family and a Wholihan family.
It contains level, rough and bogy land. The ground which is fit for cultivation is good wheat growing land. All crops are grown well in the land. There is also rough land on which horses and cattle are fed, and the farmers get furze(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
