- (continued from previous page)The licking of a dog is very good for a sore. The cure for a child that would have whooping cough, is to swing it under and over a donkey nine times when fasting in the morning. The food left over by a ferret is supposed to be another cure for this disease also. The ashes of the burned briar leaf is a cure for boils, and the mouth of a bottle-full of hot water applied to them is also another cure.
Penny leaves and ivy leaves are a cure for corns, and they are a cure for Loch Léin also. The cures for a headache are, to drink a strong tea , or to put a cloth moistened with vinegar to your forehead. If a person had a sprained foot the cure for it would be to put it under a sprout of cold water. Goose grease is a cure for it also. The cure for a nettle sting is to rub the affected part vigorously with dock leaves.- Collector
