- Told by Denis Minihane Lisheen Aughadown Aged 48 years.
Written by Jeremiagh Twomey One night a man started out for the fair about nine o' clock with a cow. When he had gone a short distance he took out his pipe to light it. He had no matches and he thought it too far to go back again. He walked along until he came to a house and he saw a light in it. He went in to light his pipe. He saw a crowd of people in it dancing. When he stood at the door they beckoned him up to the fire where he lighted his pipe. They gave him the hat and he put a sixpence in it. He arrived at the fair in the morning and sold his cow. He came back the same road and looked in at the house and he saw nothing but an old ruin consisting of four walls and no roof on it. His sixpence was on a stone in the middle of it. He left it there and returned home.- Bailitheoir
