The mail coach which travelled from Cork to Bantry with letters etc., was delayed, so that people had no communication with each other, whatsoever. - "'Mid mountains hoary and famed in story,

Sir Richard Cox was one time owner of nearly the whole of Dunmanway. He was once Lord High Chancellor of Ireland and was called the "Father of Dunmanway" by every protestant in the town. A protestant himself, he came(continues on next page)- Collector
