  2. Years ago there lived in the townland of Cahergal a man who by some unknown means accumulated great wealth. He had a farm of land containing about twenty acres, and kept a few cows, some sheep, and poultry. He lived alone and was seldom seen with his neighbours in company. In his later years he did not ramble much from his dwelling It was said of him that he jealously guarded his wealth which he kept in a large boot; there being no bank at the time. So some years passed by
