    at their own helplessness to prevent the awful catastrophe. Priests and doctors were in readiness but their efforts were in vain as not one was alive to tell the tale.
    Relatives of the deceased arrived after a day or two and the bodies of the dead sailors were laid to rest in Leslee churchyard. The events of that fearful night are gradually fading from the memories of those that witnessed them, but on a stormy night, around the fireside at Dunworley, can still be heard the story of the wreck of the "Cardiff Hall".
