    Leaves of the elder tree boiled with land was also a good mixture for sprains and muscular pains.
    Country people would not as a rule shave on Sunday morning. It was usually done on Saturday evening. Of course they shaved but once during the week and considered it as part of the week's work.
    A common cure for sore eyes was to bathe them with cold tea.
    Washing the face in sour buttermilk improved the complexion. Many of the older people considered soap as being harmful to the skin and produced wrinkles.
