    tinkers.
Long ago the people used hear no news until a tinker or a beggar would call the way.
When a beggar would come the neighbours would gather that night to the house, and he would tell them the late news and stories he heard.
The tinkers would come before fairs in Newmarket, Newcastlewest, and in Abbeyfeale.
