    Another day, as they were passing along the road they saw men watering the cornfield and they went into the house and asked the woman of the house for a piece of bread. She said that she had no bread but what was baking in the oven, but if they waited that she would give them some of it.
    They waited for it, but when the woman opened the oven, there was nothing in the oven but a heap of barley corn. The woman was surprised, and she got angry with Our Lord and the Blessed Virgin and she turned them out. This told the woman that the men should not water the corn field, for that the barley could even grow over the fire without being water-
