It was on a Thursday morning
Just at the break of day
King George's pampered heirling surrounded Inchivay
Their minds being full of treachery, as they marched into the glen
It was there, they cruelly murdered three noble Irish men
II
For those gallant boys now dead and gone
Sure all of us must feel, how cruelly they were betrayed
By that informer Shiels
The Saxon blood being in his veins he led us quite astray
And brought the English troops on us that day at Inchivay
III
For those gallant boys being fast asleep, and little did they know
That by this cruel traitor, their precious lives were sold
The houses were, well surrounded by English tyrants bold
That were no match for the rebel boys that loved the green and gold
They made a dash for liberty 'neath rifle fire and all
