    back on the ridges again. Then the furrows were dug with a spade, and the ridges threnched with a shovel.
    The ways for planting potatoes nowadays is far easier than it was in olden times. Another way for planting potatoes was ploughing drills. The ground is ploughed with a plough and a pair of horses. The it is harrowed with a harrow and rolled with a rolling stone until it is as fine as dust. The drills are then opened with a drill plough. Then the manure is spread between each drill and the sciollains are put on top of the manure. The drills are then closed with a drill plough.
    The Scotch drills are only carried out with two or three years.
    According to Scoth drills. They would plough three sods, and put the manure between the ground that is ploughed and the ground that is not. Then they wouls spread the sciollains upon the manure, and plough three more sods, and brake them with a spade. They would spread the manure again and so on until they would have all
