- The Irish people hold great celebrations on the 17 March in honour of St Patrick. Everybody wear a shamrock on that day and some people send them to America and to England. It was with the three leaf shamrock that St Patrick explained to the Irish people that there are three persons in God. It was St Patrick that brought the true faith to Ireland first. In older times all the little children used wear crosses made of green and coloured ribbons on their shoulders in honour of St Patrick. It was an old custom for people to visit each other's houses on that day. When people met on that morning their first salute to each other was my Patrick's Pot on(continues on next page)
