    On this day the labourers were busy changing into their new homes
    New Years night
    The people of this district light a candle on each window of the house
    All Souls Night
    The people lit candles for their dead on the Grave-yard wall
    May Day
    You should not redden the soil that day. Rub the cows with their manure at the right hand side of the tail and sprinkle Holy water on them May morning
    You should not get a drop of milk from any farmer on May day. If they did give anyone milk they put a pinch of salt in it
    You should not sit on the grass May day. No one would be allowed to take out a coal of fire to redden their pipe or for any other reason on that day
