    to pay such high rent and then after another year or two he had to make a reduction of ten shillings per acre.
    All the marsh land was then drained and half the cost had to be paid by the tenants for a period of twenty five years at the rate of 7 1.2%.
    About thirty years later the Compulsory Act was passed and Landlords had to sell their claim to tenants so Longfield sold Dromalour at about £11 or £12 per English acre. The English Government paid this money and the rent was then fixed by the Government at about eight or nine shillings per acre for sixty years term so for the past few years rent has been reduced by half.
