as if to strike him but he kept her at a distance with his whip. He drove her on the road before him for about thirteen yards asking her all the time - "In the Name of God what brought you here?" At last she threw the child at the priest and then disappeared. The priest returned home but died a few days afterwards.
After that occurred nobody went out at night in that neighbourhood unless it could not possibly be avoided. One night a mason was coming rather late from work. He had his trowel in his hand and as he was drawing near the haunted place he saw this same woman but without the child this time. Just as he was in the act of proomhg she made a sudden dash forward as if to strike him but he drove the trowel through her breast and ran. When he returned to the same spot next morning he found his trowel in a pool of blood on the road. From that on the woman was never again seen.
