    Marriages take place most frequently in this district during Shrove and on Shrove Tuesday. People consider the thirteenth of any month unlucky for marriage. Matches are made and money given as a dowry. Stock are never given. They do not remember marriages to place in houses.
    People have certain customs on weding days such as:- The bridegroom should be in the church waiting for the bride. The bride and bridegroom should not go to the church in the same car or sleep in the same house the night before. People throw rice at the married couple. A weding feast is uasally held at bride' house.
    People say it was an old custom on Shrove Tuesday, to take those who did not get married to the river and dip their heads into the water and shake salt on them.
