- (continued from previous page)Mrs [?] have a churn at home. It is four ft long. The Bottom is two ft and the top is one ft. It is 40 years old. The various parts are handle cup and batter. No mark is in side and bottom of the churn. Butter was made twice a week in Summer and once a week in Winter. Each person in the family had a hand in the churning. Strangers would come in and say "God Bless the house. Because it is write to do so. It takes one hour to make the butter. They work by hand. The staff move upwards and downwards. You would know the butter is made by hearing it noising. Water is poured in to make it hard. Butter-milk was used for drinking and making bread.
