Another day a man named Paddy - was going from Mallow to Buttervant and on his way he got very hungry and thought he was going to die. He said to himself I will go inside the ditch to die, he laid down to die and after a few hours he woke and when he went to Buttervant he got some food from his friends who lived in Buttervant and after that he lived with them and he told the young people alot about the famine years and days when they spoke of bad times.
